Is being curious bad? How could being curious lead to dangerous situations?
Well, it is not bad to be curious. Curiousity is good. Good for the mind. It's part of learning process. A child who is curious is deemed smart. It's always good to ask questions. When one ask questions, one'll get answers. People build knowledge from being curious. It should be one of the criterias needed to be a good or perhaps excellent police, scientist or even journalist. As simple as that. Being curious.
BUT, there's always a thin line in everything. A thin line from being good to bad. When curiousity might lead into something dangerous or plain rudeness, it should STOP!
It was just a simple act. An act of a child. A curious child. Naive. Forgiveable.
It started with one naive curiousity. But it lead to another unthinkable one. An act that should be punished so that it would never ever happened again. A punishment not too harsh but enough to remind the child the importance of respect to another human being.
"Kenapa Syabil buat macam tu?"
"Syabil nak tengok Lala pakai pampers ke tidak."
"Ok. Good enough reason. Tapi kenapa buat lagi sekali?"
"Syabil kena bagitau. Ibu nak tau kenapa Syabil buat benda tak bagus."
"Errrrr ..... Syabil nak ... Syabil nak tengok bunga Lala."
"Nak tengok sama ke tak bunga Lala dengan Nisaa'."
Yesterday 6pm :
A neighbour's daughter Navella, who we fondly called Lala came over to the house to play with Nisaa'. She's only 3. A sweet, petite and happy girl. I was cooking in the kitchen. I heard them laughing, giggling. Nothing crossed my mind. Only happy children playing with each other.
Along came Irfan, running with a 'little' news. "Ibu ... Syabil bukak seluar Lala .. 2 kali."
At 6.30pm :
The rotan landed once on both Syabil's palms. It's either that or telling his ayah, which he begged not to tell. He cried .. hard. He went to bath and continue crying in bed till he fell asleep without eating dinner.
Well ... curiousity did kill the cat .. my own kitten ... anak kucing jantan aku. Pening kepala aku!
